Unit 38: Soundtrack Production Proposal

Proposal for Documentary Documentary - Making The Grade Requirement of brief The documentary will be completed by the 25th of May Summary of requirement As the final unit for unit 31, we had to make a community media project as our documentary. We focused on student stress and what is being done to combat it. As the first part of the assignment we researched the issue in order to analyse it properly. We looked at reports and psychological statistics to find out how stress affects the body. We then gathered this information and put it into a power point to compile everything we had done. The next part of the production was pre-production. We conjured a script, a storyboard, a location and actor release form, a copyright form, a shooting script and other things in preparation for the shooting of our documentary. Some of these forms became useful. The location release form was used so we could use a room to record in for interviews and voice overs. In addition, if I were to use

Proposal for soundtrack

Proposal for Soundtrack Injustice 2 Requirement of brief The soundtrack must be completed by the 29th  Sequence Summary The Clip I have selected is from the popular fighting game Injustice 2 which came out in 2017. The clip I have selected is near the end of the game and it lasts for 48 seconds. Client The clients are game Director Ed Boon and the story directors Shawn Kittelsen and Dominic  Cianciolo Sound FX information This scene is full of prominent sound effects. We first have Batman walking up to Superman to confront him. The footsteps are loud and echoey because of the environment that they are in which is an underground tunnel. There is also a gigantic super computer in the background which does make very small but noticeable sounds. At the end of the first set of dialogue, Superman punches Batman through a brick wall. The punch itself is quite powerful and the brick wall is very clear. When Batman lands, his suit makes a big scraping sound effect. Shortly a

Adding sound effects

Adding sound effects to a scene We were tasked with adding ambient sound effects to a scene from a movie or TV show. I decided to go with No Country For Old Men again as the Hotel Showdown scene is devoid most background sounds and focuses on the sounds that are currently happening. It was because of this fact that I decided to use this scene as it would be perfect to add whatever sound I wanted as long as it was relevant to the scene and the setting of the movie. The following will show how the process of adding sound effects went overall. Adding Pre-existing Sounds When analysing the scene I noticed that Josh Brolin's character was in a hotel room but everything quiet. There was no background noise and there was no sign of other people living in a hotel or in the area for that matter. So I decided to add the sound of a loud lady on the laughing and saying "Yeah". I felt like this added the idea of sound The character actually being in a world and not just bei

Evaluation of dubbing

Sound dubbing evaluation Introduction For the next part of our unit we were tasked with dubbing the sound of scene of a movie or TV show. This entails learning the script, making sure that our voices match the actors and syncing it altogether. I choses to do dub for The Matrix and the scene where Neo meets Morpheus. The evaluation will show how this process went and some of the difficulties along the way. Recording There were a few things that had to be done before recording for the scene. A script had to be printed, the scene itself had to be read over and over again in order to make sure that my college and I knew what was being said and we had in general rehearse the scene. This unfortunately did not help the recording process. Since I had the more lines, I had problems remembering what came next and eventually I had to create multiple tracks for the multiple retake lines I did because I could not do the entirety of Morpheus' lines in one go. For my friend who was doi

Evaluation for adding music

Evaluation For adding music I was tasked with adding music to a scene. We had to use Garage band in order to accomplish this task and the music genre could have been anything from our choice. I decided to use the chase scene in No Country For Old Men. The main character "Llewlynn" (Josh Brolin) is running away from psychopathic hitman "Anton" (Jaiver Bardem). The scene itself contains absolutely no music and is possibly one of the most tense chase scene because of its absence of music. So when it came to thinking about what songs I was going to put in there, it had to be songs that were composed with high  tension and pace in mind. One song from Payday 2 called "Where is the Van?!" by Simon Viklund came to mind as the song has the feeling as if you are being chased. The game itself is about pulling off heists and for me one the tracks that resembles barley making an escape was that one. I decided to put another track from a slightly different genre

Evaluation of sound editing

Evaluation of sound mixing Introduction For my first sound mixing project, I had to select a short scene, listen to it intently and add my own voice over to this scene. The scene I chose was from the wire and it was a scene when main character, Omar is coming to collect something from people who owe him. The following will discuss how I eventually made voice over for him and how editing went for me. The Editing Process To get the voice over for Omar I had to both listen to how he talks and do a little overview of his character. Omar, in the show, never swears or curses which is evident in this scene with his choice of words. He could have said something explicit or destructive about how he is going to blow down the doors to their houses but he instead says "imma huff and imma puff" which is a reference to the three little piggies. Based on this analysis I scripted my voice over so that it rhymes and that has a lighter touch to it because I did not want him to sou

How sound is used in Media productions

The use of sound in media productions Introduction In most media productions, sound is one of the most important aspects. They add many things to a scene that may complement the movie immensely according to how it is used. Sometimes simply the lack of sound is enough to make that particular scene. The following will discuss how sound  creates mood and meaning in both theatrical releases and documentaries. Sound effects used in Children of Men The sound effects in this scene are very naturalistic. From the beginning you can hear the car and everything you would expect to hear in the car and then when the action starts, loads of sounds are being thrown at you. At 1:29 you have the car making a sound indicating that the vehicle is about to come into contact with something. Immediately after that a flurry of people start rushing out and attacking the car. We can hear the sound of things beating against the car and then at 1:47 we hear the sound of glass breaking. At 1:50 A Molo
